Ms. Virginia Coolidge is here with us for a few days from just up the road in Shelburne, VT. BHC send out a warm welcome to Deborah Longley from Saint Paul, MN, and Ms. Holly Thompson of Menlo Park, CA. Also with us this week is the Dallenbach Family, gathering on the shores of Lake Champlain from New Jersey and Colorado. Glad to have you all with us! Special congratulations are in order for Frank and Cathy Nash of Rowayton, CT, who are celebrating their 25th Wedding Anniversary here at Basin Harbor! The happy couple honeymooned here when they were first married, and we’ve been delighted to have them since.

The Olympics may be over, but we have some champions of our own at Basin Harbor! Four very powerful young guests made the swim across Lake Champlain from the North Dock to New York yesterday. Mason Yonover, age 7, swam to the halfway point and declared that “the water was really cold!” Ten-year-olds Jack Yonover and Jack Levenson, as well as Sophie Levenson, age 7, made the entire swim. Well done, Basin Harborites!

Nature News
Close encounters with wildlife here at the Harbor! Our guest and turtle expert Thomas Christian reports that yesterday, while boating around the lake, he spotted a shelled reptile in the water and caught it by hand! Thomas believes the specimen to have been a mud turtle (and hopefully released it shortly after!). Speaking of nice catches, the Breeze editors would like to make a correction from yesterday’s news, which stated that Vincenzo DiNatale caught the Biggest Fish of the Summer. In fact, it was his son Peter DiNatale who angled the beast, and we do apologize for the confusion. Way to go, Peter!

Have you noticed the colorful 32-foot Pilot Gig named Maple bobbing around in the harbor? Maple is a seaworthy craft that replicates the 6-person pulling boats used in England in the 1800s. Tomorrow we’ve got the opportunity for you to be transported back in time as you join naturalist Matt Witten for a rowing experience not to be missed! There are TWO opportunities to row today, so be sure to secure your rowing session with the concierge!

BHC’s Got Talent! We know you have something special, so why not share it? Sign up with the Rec Staff and meet in the MDR for Talent Show Practice. Our pianist Melissa is ready to accompany you Friday night at the Talent Show.

Need a good old-fashioned chuckle? Look no further than Basin Harbor itself for a round of hilarity by the Vermont Comedy Club, who will be earning your yuks tonight with some clever stand up comedy. A cash bar will be available. Keep in mind that the show is geared toward mature audiences, ages 18 and over.
