Cooler Fall temperatures are making their way to the Harbor, with chilly nights and daytime highs mostly in the low 70s and high 60s for the coming week. We might see some showers on Saturday and mid-week, but pockets of blue-sky sunshine are on the radar, as well.
How wonderful to have some familiar faces with us this week! Basin Harbor welcomes our friends Richard & Joanne Lehmann from West Caldwell, NJ, here to enjoy a few days of Fall splendor. We are happy to see William & Susan Morris again, visiting all the way from Sacramento, CA. Welcome back to Vermont! From Hensonville, NY we welcome Russell & Serena Kratz to the Harbor, and we’re glad to have Richard Barry back with us from New Paltz, NY. Kristen Kingsberry and Jonathan Warner are also here for a visit, and we welcome them to our little piece of heaven. Last but not least, Jason Smith and Tammy from just down the road in Rutland, VT are here for some loveliness and to celebrate their anniversary. Happy Anniversary from all of us at Basin Harbor!
Whether you’ve never been out on Lake Champlain before or have stepped aboard our Narrated Cruise on the EScape many times in past years, it’s always a fine time for an EScape! Join Captain Brian for a fun and fascinating lake tour to the Palisades, past shipwrecks, and up Otter Creek every day. Sign up with the concierge in advance.
Take advantage of our gorgeous wooded property in this lovely late-summer week! Pick up a trail map and a hiking guide at the Nature Center below the Homestead building and explore one or all of our on-site walks through the woods, or head off property to hike one of the nearby Green Mountain trails. Guided hikes, cycles, and kayak treks are available with advanced notice. See the concierge to set up an adventure!
While you’re out gallivanting around property, see if you can find our brand-new hidden Checkerboard Stump in the woods! Grab a friend and play a game or two amidst the maples. Hint: the stump is located on the Button Bay Trail, with a view of the 4th Green!
It may be cooler, but there’s still plenty of Lake Champlain glory to take advantage of during this late-Summer week. Visit Tom at the waterfront and rent a YOLO stand-up paddleboard, a kayak, or a tin boat. If you are admiring our handsome new fleet of bicycles, why not rent one? Pick up a cycling map of the area and head out for a crisp Autumn ride! Bikes are available by the hour, day, or for the entire week!
Apples are in full swing! Our favorite seasonal Vermont fruits are popping off the trees this time of year, so don’t forget to enjoy one a day (or more!) from our well-stocked supply in the lobby. Sip on a cup of complimentary hot or cold Vermont apple cider in the Champlain Lounge from 3pm-5pm each day, accompanied by an array of delicious cookies!
If you’re feeling like spending a cozy afternoon or evening indoors, see the front desk about checking out one of our numerous board games or DVDs. There’s something for everyone! For those looking to shake out those final summer jives, head to the Red Mill on Saturday night for some rockin’ tunes by DJ Charlie.
