Looks like temperatures are on the rise today, with a high near 87 degrees. Keep on eye out for the stars on this clear evening!
What a fantastic day to welcome our guests! Basin Harbor is glad to see Ms. Marylou Morrissette, who is visiting from Rutland, VT. The Peck Family is here for a reunion, as they gather at the harbor from Southborough, MA to celebrate Penny’s 65th birthday! Great to have you all here!
Basin Harbor is teeming with wildlife! Just yesterday, a young nature expert who is staying with us, Tristano Coe, spotted not one but TWO foxes! His brother also caught a glimpse of a rabbit. Good eyes, fellas! If you’re wondering what other animals might be strolling around property, or if anyone has seen any lake monsters recently, head on down to the Nature Center and find out. While you’re there, check out our special displays about shipwrecks, trees, and wild edibles!
What a day down at the courts! With only one ball to spare, Romy Shapiro of Westchester, NY came up with an incredible down the line passing shot to knock off husband Dan Shapiro and assistant pro Craig Kirchgessner in an exciting game of olympic doubles. Romy teamed up with Earle Giovanillo to claim the day’s title for olympic doubles, and that highlight reel backhand was no doubt the shot of the day. Way to go!
If you’re parched on this scorching afternoon, don’t forget that a refreshing beverage is always just a few steps away! Visit the Pool Bar, the Burgee Bar down at the waterfront, the Harbor Store, or the Fairway Café at the golf shop, in between your meals and activities.
Feel like cooling off indoors? How about rounding up a friend or even the whole family for a board game in the air conditioned Champlain Lounge? Basin Harbor Club offers a whole selection of games to borrow from the Front Desk, and DVDs to check out for this evening! While you’re in the lounge, grab a cool beverage from the bar, which is open from 3pm to 10pm.
A slideshow of the candid images captured this week will be running this afternoon in the Ranger Room. Don’t forget to pick up a card at the concierge desk with information and the password on how to view and purchase your images online. Or stop by the Club Room tomorrow from 12–2pm to order your images in advance.
