Three glorious days of weather and goings on here at Basin Harbor Club!
Friday night’s Red Mill opening ushered in a new menu – keeping all your favorites from years past – with both renewed and new partnerships with the Vermont farmers and producers who provide wonderful ingredients. All agreed that it was the best opening ever – food and service are over the top! We’re not just saying that because it’s our place, mind you, there were many very enthusiastic customers. Go Red Mill!
Saturday, the Bixby Memorial Library’s 100th year kicked off with a Gala celebration held in the Main Dining Room. Patrons were serenaded by Chris Wyckoff, Justin Levenson and the Little City Jazz Band. The food was fabulous and the Library had a successful fundraiser/silent auction. The fun continued later in the evening as Rehab Roadhouse played until the wee hours at the Red Mill. As the old time newspapers were wont to say, a good time was had by all.
Mother’s Day turned into a sunny day in spite of a cloudy forecast. Some difference from last year, when people thought they couldn’t get here due to Lake Champlain’s flooding, or two years ago when it tried hard to snow during brunch. People came out in droves to enjoy Brunch in the Main Dining Room. Chef Rod Rehwinkel and his intrepid culinary team put out a memorable localvore feast – everyone departed with appetites sated and smiles on their faces. Thank you for celebrating here with your Moms.
And now begins the final push toward our official all-resort opening on Friday, May 18. The celebration for the new Lake Champlain Bridge is a natural focus for our opening weekend events – please go to our web site for the listings.
We have a wonderful team of people here to serve you during this 126th year at Basin Harbor. We look forward to seeing you soon! Pennie
