This morning we moved a new HVAC unit into the Lodge basement that cools and heats the Club Room. As we were finishing up placing the unit I was struck by the thought of how many times in the past similar pieces of equipment has moved thru the same hatchway. As a 7th generation Vermonter, the adage “milk her for what she gives” is a thought process that works well at a 126 year old resort, so I thought a little research was warranted to see how long it had been since we replaced the Club Room A/C.
Constructed in the winter of 1978/1979, the Club Room was a large addition to the “card room” that had been built in the early 1930′s. Although a card game or two still gets played during the summer, but for most of you bingo, movie night, hospitality hour (on the rare occasion it rains), and of course our weekly Talent Show are the present day staples of usage. Anyone remember what color the Club Room chairs were originally?
As you read below, on that cold and sunny day January 5, 1979 when we place the order for the A/C, there are three employees working that day that still work with us. Can you name them?
