Grown from a single structure in 1764, a sawmill, modern day Vergennes is a most interesting place to visit. Architecture buffs will enjoy a visit to the historic Bixby Library, among other architectural gems in town. Snackers should not miss a visit to the Vergennes Laundry Bakery, a wood fired bakery and espresso bar known for its fabulous croissants. Make sure to find The Daily Chocolate Shop at 7 Green Street, a charming beamed and brick walled back-in-time chocolate shop where you can watch the chocolatier at work. The aroma alone is worth a visit. Three Squares has a prize winning chef and offers great breads, baked goods, excellent sandwiches and outdoor patio seating perched high over Main Street.
