Basin Harbor Trivia:  More than twenty five years before Aunt Ardelia Beach began taking in boarders in 1886 the causeway that supports Basin Harbor Road was built. The causeway runs between our two diverse waterways, the fast-flowing, historic Otter Creek and the meandering Dead Creek that seemingly goes nowhere. During the fifties and sixties the causeway was raised to its present height although even now, in spring, rising waters may partially cover the road.  This spring a good three feet of water covered the road at River’s Edge Campground  remaining with us for weeks and causing our spring guests  to go “round”  by the Panton Store.
