In what proved to be an eventful day yesterday, Ava bagged a squirrel in the morning. Naturally wanting to show off, she proudly brought it into my office. Thanks to the quick wits and enthusiasm of the BHC team, we were able to get it out of her clenched jaws.
Later on, I needed to get something in the Golf Shop. So I climbed through thigh-deep snow and went into the shop area. I ventured into the bag room, thinking nothing about it when the door to the shop closed behind me. Locked in!!! Hmmm, all the exits are locked – except the half-windows. Lucky for me I could wriggle out onto one of the golf carts (we use the shop porch to store various members of our golf cart fleet). Guess we won’t try that again! It was just hilarious!
Later on, Piccolo didn’t come home from work. I called and called, walking around to all her favorite haunts. It was as if she had vanished. Did she get on the Fedex truck? Finally, Peter suggested that I start looking in places she might have been inadvertently trapped. Not in the three-bay garage. Not in the golf maintenance building. Into the wood shop – bingo! You’ve never seen a dog fly out of a place so fast in your life! Piccolo was very, very glad to be liberated.
Thus ended our February, with everyone safe at home. The weather service says that the month was the snowiest ever in Burlington, VT. And what does March have in store? The good news is that we’ll be open in just a few weeks! Can’t wait – Pennie
