It’s a good thing that the internet is healthy as I do my holiday shopping!  The thought of trekking around to endless malls is just not appealing at all!  I’m keeping the UPS man very busy this year.

It’s pretty quiet at Basin Harbor now, although there is a local resident who keeps his fishing boat at Basin Harbor during November and December – into January if weather permits.  It’s pretty lonely out on the Lake now and it’s the solitude that he loves.  Think of all the boat engine noise during the summer and reduce it down to just one rather quiet craft.

I frequently wake up these days to the sound of ducks quacking in the water below my house.  And there’s a blue heron who is still hanging around, too.  The bird feeder is quite active with finches, nut hatches and titmouses.  Hairy woodpeckers come and go, and we saw the first cardinal in a long while yesterday.
