Busman’s Holiday

I had the privilege of visiting the Otesaga Hotel on Lake Otsego in Cooperstown, New York recently.  What a lovely property in a very beautiful part of the country.  We had the good fortune to have dinner in the Baseball Hall of Fame’s Hall of Plaques, with all those immortal baseball greats looking on from their bronze on the walls.  If you enjoy reading about the history of things, William Cooper’s Town is a great read.  It is a good lead in to The Wedding of the Waters, the story of the building of the Erie Canal.  And for all you naval history fans, I’ve just finished Ian Toll’s Six Frigates, the story of the United States Navy.

The countryside was awash with blooming flowers and trees, and all the many shades of green that spring brings.  It was simply glorious!  As always, though, we were glad to be home.
