Basin Harbor would like to give a very warm welcome to Jewell Westerman, Josh McKain, and their families who are all here for an 80th Birthday Celebration! We also want to wish Mr. Emmett Wilson a very Happy (and slightly belated) Birthday! He turned 10 yesterday! We hope you had a wonderful day Emmett!
There is a lot to do today at Basin Harbor! We are gearing up for the holiday celebrations and special events.
Start the day’s activities by dropping the kids off at the Tennis Shop for some early morning Tennis instruction and fun before they head to Kids Camp. Looking to stick together for the afternoon? Try out the Family Fishing Tournament! This is a free event happening at the Waterfront, fishing poles will be available to borrow and bait to purchase. Sign up with the Concierge!
Keep the kids cool with swimming lessons! Our own Colin, a sophomore at the University of Vermont, is giving swimming lessons to kids of all ages! He has been a swimming instructor for three years and has raced competitively for many years as well. Your children will be swimming like champs in no time! Call Colin at the pool (ext. 894) to set up your lesson!
Don’t miss out on some wonderful local products at Middlebury’s Farmer’s Market! Open from 9am-12:30pm, Middlebury is just a 25 minute drive south of us. Here crafts, cheeses, breads, and veggies vie for your attention! While you are in town, meander across the Walking Bridge to the other side of town and check out the shops. Or grab some lunch at any one of the delicious restaurants within walking distance!
Did you know…Racewalking has been an official Olympic sport for over 90 years. Distances vary from 1 mile to 95 miles. Racewalking usually is not the most popular sport of the Olympics. We won’t be Racewalking, but we do invite you to take a stroll with our Basin Harbor Ambassador, Sadie, this afternoon! She will answer any questions you may have about the property and the activities we have going on here.
Tonight is the first of our Wine Dinner Series! Enjoy an evening of fabulous wine and food with our own wine connoisseur, Joss Vandal, and our guest host for the evening Ines Giovanett of Castelfeder Winery. Our Chef has prepared a special menu to go along with our special wines, so make your reservation now for this fantastic event!
Looking for some late night entertainment? Middlebury College is hosting an Open House in their Observatory! Sky gazers join Jonathan Kemp of the Middlebury College physics department to view Saturn, Mars, and other celestial sights through state-of-the-art telescopes. The Open House is free and open to the public, but will take place only if the sky is at least mostly clear. If the weather appears uncertain, visitors may call the observatory at 443-2266, after 7:00 PM on the evening of the Open House for a status report. See the Concierge for more information.
