We have a lot going on today! We are celebrating the Fourth with fun activities and events happening all day. Look to the back of the Breeze for all the details or stop by the Concierge desk!
Our very own Boating Guide & Naturalist Matt will be offering two sessions of Longboat Rowing this morning! This is a traditional Longboat from the Maritime Museum. The Pilot Gig is a 32-foot, extremely seaworthy and stable craft that will surely give you a workout! This afternoon Matt will be leading a hike up Buck Mountain. This is a moderate hike that is only 15 minutes from Basin Harbor. The view from the top is amazing! Looking out at the Champlain Valley and the Adirondacks. There are some muddy bits though, so make sure to remember the bug spray! We can accommodate 5 people in our van, beyond that this will be a self-drive adventure (following the van of course, we won’t lose you).
We’ll be making special Patriotic Friendship Bracelets in the Club Room this morning. Or take a tour of the Gardens with our Landscaper Rebecca! She will be here to talk about this years special design concept…the Great Mountain Ranges of the World! Meet Rebecca at the Concierge desk to begin the tour!
Did you know…That the very first Cardboard Boat Regatta took place in 1974 at Southern Illinois University? Richard Archer was a professor of Art & Design and dreamed up the idea as a final exam for his freshman design class! Now it’s your turn to put your creativity and design skills to the test in our very own Cardboard Boat Regatta! Gather your best thinkers and builders, come up with a great team name, and sign yourselves up with the Concierge to compete in this year’s race! Make your boat at 1:30pm and race at 2:45pm.
Don’t forget to get a good seat for the Fireworks show tonight! They go off at dark over the airstrip!
