Happy August, Basin Harborites! We welcome back our returning guests Missy and Paul Fiorita and the crew from Darien, CT, as well as Ms. Virginia Tanner and her lovely family from Nashville, TN. From Voorhees, NJ we are delighted to have with us Mr. Edwins Naythons, making his first return to Basin Harbor in 40 years! Welcome back!

A special Happy Birthday goes out to Mr. Clinton Curtis, who is here celebrating his 80th birthday with the whole gaggle of family members. The Clintons return every 10 years to BHC, and we’re happy to have them with us this year!

Resort News

Ann-Marie will be capturing candid images today at all camps. A slideshow of this week’s candids will be running this evening in the Champlain Lounge. Our last Family Portrait Special is available tomorrow morning at the Wilderneath Garden.  Please sign up with the concierge by this evening. Private Portrait Sessions are still available throughout the week.

Do you like to start your day with a serious workout in the fresh air? Look no further than the Basin Harbor grounds themselves to keep you in shape! Meet our fitness guru Scott at the Wellness Center at 7am tomorrow morning for Outdoor Interval Training, a fast-paced series of events that will take you all around BHC. If that’s not enough of a challenge, don’t hesitate to participate in Basin Harbor’s mini-Triathlon tomorrow afternoon, including a 200 yard swim across the Harbor followed by a 2.2 mile bike ride and a .8 mile run. Come join us as an individual or create a team with family and friends, and show your colors!

Did you know that the BHC golf course was designed by the famous Geoffrey Cornish, who is responsible for more than 200 course designs around New England? Originally built in 1927, the course then offered 9 holes until Cornish redesigned the now Championship course at a par 71 with over 6,567 yards. You’ll find it incredibly user-friendly. As we say, “the only tough drive you will have is the drive home”! Private lessons with PGA Professional Paul Meunier are available, catering to all skill levels from beginner to pro! Call extension 899.

Basin Harbor Club and its Boating Guide/Naturalist Matt Witten are teaming up with the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum to offer a new yet old-time boating experience right out of the harbor. The 32-foot Pilot Gig “Maple” is a colorful, extremely seaworthy and stable craft that replicates the 6-person pulling boats used off the coast of Cornwall, England in the 1800s. Pilot gig rowing tours tomorrow morning will be 1-1½ hours, can include up to 8 passengers, and will likely include sea chanteys as part of the package! Sign up in advance, and come ready to row, with your chantey voice tuned up!

BHC’s Got Talent! We know you have something special, so why not share it? Sign up with the Rec Staff and meet in the MDR for Talent Show Practice. Our pianist Melissa is ready to accompany you Friday night at the Talent Show.

Quote of the Day

“Did you ever walk in a room and forget why you walked in?

I think that’s how dogs spend their lives.” ~Sue Murphy
