Local Weather (Subject to Change!)
Another beautiful day is in store for us lucky Basin Harborites today, with a high of 80 degrees and mostly sunny skies. Keep an eye out after dark for a lovely display of stars on this clear evening.
How nice to see some familiar faces on this fine Tuesday! Arriving today to join her family is Kate Arnsdorf of Baltimore, MD, bringing along a little ball of puppy fluff named Envy. We also welcome Mike Woodard, Jr. to the Arnsdorf contingent, only a day late! From Mahwah, NJ comes Donald & Lynda Beier and family, while Woodstock, CT brings us the lovely Cheryl Wakely. Basin Harbor is delighted to welcome Penn & Weezie Griffen back from Charleston, SC, who will be accompanied by the one-and-only Gray Griffen. How wonderful to have you all back at the Harbor this week! We also send out a congratulations to newlyweds Mr. & Mrs. Dan Cooper. Enjoy your Honeymoon!
Congratulations to our lucky Bingo winners from Sunday night! The first Bingo game went to Laurie from New Jersey, while Peter from North Carolina took the win for Picture Frame. Postage Stamp resulted in a tie between John and Lori from Rhode Island and Connecticut, respectively. Vermont’s own Bingo player David took home the prize for X Marks the Spot, while Julia from Maryland scored high for High Stakes and Ed from New York championed Stand Up Sit Down. Our big win of the night for Blackout Bingo went to Jake from Massachusetts, who scored the entire $160 jackpot all to himself! As for all our not-so-lucky Bingo players, you’ll have another chance to win big on Thursday night!
Ann-Marie will be capturing candid images at various events throughout the day and this evening at the Harbor Fair. Please feel free to say hello and let her know if you have any requests. Our Family Portrait Special will be available tonight at Harbor Fair and Thursday morning at the Wilderneath Garden. Space is limited, so please sign up in advance with the concierge.
If you missed the early morning Boot Camp today, you still have another chance on Thursday! Sign up at the Treehouse Wellness Center and be ready to meet at 7am for a series of strength and conditioning exercises that will make breakfast taste all that much better! For something a little less intense, the Wellness Center also offers Gentle Yoga and Total Conditioning, all before lunch, so your afternoon can be free for other harbor activities!
Basin Harbor presents two special offerings tomorrow for the culinary enthusiasts in the crowd! Not listed in the weekly schedule, these Cooking Classes with Chef Tony will take you through the steps for creating two different classic Italian dishes straight from Tony’s homeland, the Island of Capri. Before settling in Vermont, this Chef Tony developed his career across the world, ending up at Vermont’s famous Michael’s on the Hill. Sign up with the Concierge for a Caponata class before lunch tomorrow, and learn how to make Cannoli afterwards. Don’t miss this opportunity!
It’s Harbor Fair! Make your reservations for dinner tonight on the North Dock, complete with face painting, games, jumpy castle merriment, balloon animals, and a delicious buffet spread for the whole family. Sign up for the complimentary Cocktail Cruise ahead of time to enjoy an hour of cash bar service and beautiful views before the fair kicks off. Probability of a glorious sunset over the Adirondacks is high! Stick around for a campfire and s’mores at dusk.
Let’s face it: you and your family are having so much fun, you already can’t wait to come back to Basin Harbor next year! It’s never too early to start planning. Stop by the Reservation Table in the lobby tomorrow morning from 8 to 10am to book your reservations for Summer 2014. We can’t wait to have you back!
Did you know your server at the Dining Room can also sing and dance? Attend Basin Harbor’s exhilarating and surprising Staff Variety Show in the Town Hall tomorrow night, organized by MDR Captain and long-time variety show producer Tom Walsh. The hour-long show kicks off at 9:30pm, but come early for a good seat and take advantage of the bar service. You never know what might happen!
