July 26 Week 29
Local Weather (Subject to Change!)
In store for this fine Friday might be the perfect Summer forecast! Look forward to mostly blue skies and a high of 80 degrees, and enjoy every second of it!
We welcome back our lovely set of new and returning guests today. Good to see you all! Joining the Remmer Family Reunion are members from Massachusetts, New York, California, Washington and Virginia. Enjoy your time together! Basin Harbor also welcomes Karl Maggiore & Carol Kontchegulian from Wheatfield, NY along with Kyla and Zoey, here for some summer fun at the Harbor. Great to see you again!
Congratulations to all of our competitors this week who participated in the second annual Basin Harbor Triathlon yesterday: Ben Wiggins, Bill Thompson, Ted Lentz, Sidney Lentz, Billy Thompson, Tyler Lentz, and Nick Wiggins all did a stellar job showing their Basin Harbor spirit! Special recognition belongs to Brent Stern and Catherine Lentz, who finished the triathlon on the same day that they completed BHC Boot Camp at 7am! Some hearty souls! We appreciate the effort and enthusiasm of our Triathlon participants. See you next year!
Need a refreshment this afternoon? Head to the Harbor Store for a perfectly spiraled cool treat by our creemee connoisseurs Lois and Casey, who will be fashioning up cones in two tasty flavors today, with the option of a swirl! The Harbor Store is open from 10am to 5pm. For something more potent, visit Corey at the Burgee Bar after lunch for your assortment of tropical concoctions. Or if you find yourself on the other side of the property, cool off with a snack and a cold one at the Fairway Café next to the golf shop.
Did you know that the BHC golf course was designed by the famous Geoffrey Cornish, who is responsible for more than 200 course designs around New England? Originally built in 1927, the course then offered 9 holes until Cornish redesigned the now Championship course at a par 71 with over 6,567 yards. You’ll find it incredibly user-friendly. As we say, “the only tough drive you will have is the drive home”! Private lessons with PGA Professional Paul Meunier are available, catering to all skill levels from beginner to pro! Call extension 899.
A Photography Ordering Session will be held in the Club Room from 12-2 pm. All candid images from this week will be on sale; 25% off! So, whether you are ordering from candids, our family portraiture specials or a private session, stop by and meet with Ann-Marie, to view samples, ask questions and place your orders.
Vermont is renowned for its dedication to small farms and locally grown food. Some of these farms are as close as a mile away from Basin Harbor! Grab a cycling map from the Nature Center and take the pastoral 5 mile loop up Schoolhouse Rd. to Kellogg Bay and back on Basin Harbor Rd. You’ll pass two dairy farms, lovely marshland perfect for birdwatching, and Riverfront Gardens organic farm stand, where you can purchase a beautiful pint of sungold cherry tomatoes or some Vermont-grown veggies to take home with you.
Do you have a talent to profess to the world? Tonight is your chance to shine, and you can practice shining this afternoon at the Talent Show Practice, held today in the Club Room at 3pm.
To make your Friday complete, head to the Red Mill for your musical entertainment by legendary Burlington honky tonker Brett Hughes and his band The Valley Mountain Boys, a boot-stompin’ good time for all! Music kicks off at 10pm.
Quote of the Day:
“It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.” ― Vincent van Gogh
