July 25 Week 29
Local Weather (Subject to Change!)
Another pleasant sunny day is in store for our Basin Harbor guests today, with a high near 76 and a mostly clear, starry night to follow.
We welcome our lovely guests who are arriving on this fine day. From Pineridge, FL we are happy to see our friend Glenn Parker, while Basking Ridge, NJ brings William, Jr. & Lois Olmstead for a visit. Douglas & Cammie Bryant of Wellesley, MA are here to enjoy some nice summer merriment, along with Carrie. How wonderful to have you all here!
Basin Harbor would like to congratulate Joanne Casale and Christopher Brown, here from Burlington, VT, who were married on Tuesday in the Eight Bed Garden. The beautiful ceremony was followed by a reception on the North Dock, and we are delighted to have hosted this very special and joyous occasion. Congratulations to the happy couple!
Greetings to the Remmer Family, who are here at the Harbor from far and wide! We welcome family members from Florida, New York, Montana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Virginia! We wish you all a most wonderful visit at Basin Harbor. We also welcome the Hennessey Family, joining us from Weston, CT to celebrate a 50th Anniversary! Enjoy your stay! BHC is delighted to host Sojourn Tours for a few days, as well, and we hope you all enjoy some onsite relaxation in between your adventures. Welcome to the Harbor!
The staghorn sumac is in bloom, and that means it’s time to make sumac kool-aid! To pick up a few fun recipes for local wild edibles and to learn more about Basin Harbor’s vast array of flora and fauna, head to the Nature Center and get the scoop! Special offerings today include a natural history stroll to Button Bay, where Abbey will point out some other edible plants and tell you about local lake history. Later, sign up for Painting with Nature and learn how to create your own paints with egg yolks and naturally occurring pigments. Try your hand at painting like the old masters!
For the active Basin Harborites in our crowd, don’t miss the Basin Harbor Triathlon this afternoon! Challenge yourself on this fun event that will have you swimming, biking, and running around BHC property. Grab a friend or family member for a team, or do all three legs on your own. Meet down at the waterfront at 1:45pm with a bike and helmet and a competitive spirit!
Choose from a whole menu of unbelievable massage options from our Blue Chair Day Spa massage therapists Kate and Patti. See the concierge to set up your treatments, with openings still available for today!
A slideshow of the candid images captured this week will be running at breakfast in the Champlain Lounge. Don’t forget to pick up a card at the concierge desk with information and the password on how to view and purchase your images online. Or stop by the Club Room tomorrow from 12-2 pm to order your images in advance.
We’re in New England, so how about some lobster? Make your reservations for our Shore Dinner tonight on the North Dock, where you’ll be rewarded with a bounty of deliciousness from the land and sea. After catching the sunset, head to the Town Hall for a few thrilling rounds of Basin Harbor’s favorite game, BINGO! Who will take home the jackpot tonight?
To keep the night going, how about a nightcap at the Red Mill this evening? Sidle up to the bar and let your bartender and expert martini mixologist Costas whip up something chilled to perfection, just for you! If beer is more your thing, check out our lineup of local brews from Vermont’s favorite craft breweries including Magic Hat, Switchback, Fiddlehead, and Otter Creek.
