Sunrise 5:14am Sunset 8:40pm
Local Weather (Subject to Change!)
Our high today will likely hit 80 degrees, with clouds on the radar and potential for yet another visit by our friend “precipitation.” Be on the lookout for rainbows!
Basin Harbor wishes a very happy birthday to Robbie Henke, who is turning 3 years old today! We know he’ll have a wonderful celebration with his family at BHC.
Welcome to our new and returning guests! How nice to see your lovely faces at the Harbor. Brandon Swartley returns to us for a few days from Cherry Hill, NJ, and Maureen Weiss is joining us from New York, NY. From Staten Island, NY we welcome Mark Yanche, as well as Michelle Yanche and family from New Brunswick, NJ. The Tananbaum Family is here with us, making the commute from various parts of Connecticut to gather together at the Harbor. Welcome! We are also pleased to have the Knight Family visiting this week, coming from Connecticut and other parts of Vermont. We are delighted to have you all here with us for this week of festivities!
What a fun night we had at Sunday’s Bingo Extravaganza! Payton from Vermont stole away with the first victory for Regular Bingo, followed by a Picture Frame win by Lars Eklund from Massachusetts. Kathryn Ratcliffe-Lee of New Jersey bingo-ed her way to a win for Postage Stamp, while Bob Renner from New York scored first for High Stakes. Pennsylvania’s own Julia Lewis championed X Marks the Spot and Daniel Naiman from New Jersey was our winner for Four Corners. Stand Up Sit Down resulted in a tie game between Tom from Massachusetts and Nelly from Rhode Island, who split the pot down the middle. Our Blackout Championess of the night was the lovely Paige Daly from Pennsylvania, who walked away $170 richer. Congratulations!
For the fishing enthusiasts among us, Basin Harbor offers a very special Family Fishing Trip this morning right after breakfast. Hop aboard the EScape with guest Captain Jeff and he’ll take you to some great spots where you’ll be able to reel ‘em in from the depths of Champlain.
It might be a bit too wet to spot butterflies and dragonflies flitting out and about, but you can learn about these insects and more at the Nature Center, a perfect rainy day stop! Join Abbey this afternoon to make your own framed Nature Dragonfly to take home (sign up in advance with the concierge), and read about other memorable summer crawlies with our “Bugs” display. While you’re there, enjoy our displays about Lake Champlain Shipwrecks, Geology, Champ, and Edible Nature. You can even pick up a trail map or cycling map to plan your adventure for when the weather clears later this week!
It’s time for Harbor Fair! Make your reservations for a delicious dinner buffet tonight, then stay for games, face painting, jumpy castle merriment, and all manner of fun! In the event of inclement weather, the Harbor Fair (and the fun) will move inside.
Ann-Marie will be capturing candid images at various events throughout the day and this evening at the Harbor Fair. Please feel free to say hello and let her know if you have any requests. Our Family Portrait Special will be available tonight at Harbor Fair and Thursday morning at the Wilderneath Garden. Space is limited, so please sign up in advance with the concierge.
Let’s face it: you and your family are having so much fun, you already can’t wait to come back to Basin Harbor next year! It’s never too early to start planning. Stop by the Reservation Table in the lobby tomorrow morning from 8 to 10am to book your reservations for Summer 2014. We can’t wait to have you back!
Quote of the Day:
“There is no passion to be found playing small, in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”
