August delight! We can look forward to blue skies and a high of 85 degrees today. A clear night is in store, with temps cooling to about 59 degrees.
Basin Harbor is delighted to welcome the Moore Family, here for a reunion from New York, NY, North Palm Beach, FL and Rye, NY. Local guests Ann and David Wood return from South Burlington, VT. Thomas Darby and family are with us again from Rochester, NY and the Hobe Family: Don, Margaret, Von and Annia join us from Wyncote, PA. Welcome back to all our friends! Also with us this week are Ami and Arun Naharajan, celebrating two very special events at the Harbor: their 2nd Anniversary and Arun’s birthday! Many warm wishes from all of us at BHC!
Don’t know what to do with that eggplant you just bought on a whim at the Farmer’s Market? If you haven’t been to one of Chef Tony’s famous Cooking Classes on the North Dock, tomorrow is your last chance! The Chef will be offering his final summer class on marinated eggplant. Yum! Sign up in advance with the concierge.
Did you know that Basin Harbor’s original gardens were planted in 1896? Or that the Chef’s Garden contains a whole myriad of edible herbs and flowers that show up on your very dinner plate? BHC’s many gardens are at their peak of maturity and brilliance in August, so if you’re curious about the history and beauty of our colorful grounds, jump aboard the Garden Tour for an afternoon stroll with florist Claire L’Esperance.
Looking for some photographic evidence of all the fun you’re having at Basin Harbor Club? Private Portrait Sessions with our lovely photographer Ann-Marie are still available throughout the week, and she will be capturing candid images today at all camps. Don’t forget to pick up a card at the concierge desk with information and the password on how to view and purchase your images online. Or stop by the Club Room tomorrow from 12–2pm to order your images in advance.
Our BHC golf course was designed by the famous Geoffrey Cornish, who is responsible for more than 200 course designs around New England. Originally built in 1927, the course then offered 9 holes until Cornish redesigned the now Championship course at a par 71 with over 6,567 yards. You’ll find it incredibly user-friendly. As we say, “the only tough drive you will have is the drive home”! Private lessons with PGA Professional Paul Meunier are available, catering to all skill levels from beginner to pro! Call extension 899.
After several days of summer delights at Basin Harbor, chances are you have a lot of great photos! How about sharing some of your favorites? Send your best BHC pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll put them on our Facebook page!
