Consider staying close to the lake today! Temperatures are expected to touch almost 90 degrees this afternoon, with a light morning breeze.
Basin Harbor is delighted to welcome Mrs. Steinkamp and her extended family from Bronxville, NY. We hope you have a fabulous stay at the Harbor!
We wish a very Happy 45th Anniversary to our guests, Mr. & Mrs. Arthur St. Jean. How nice of you to stop by the Harbor to celebrate this special occasion!
Get out on Basin Harbor’s beautiful Audubon Certified golf course! Fun fact about our golf pro Paul Meunier: VT Native PGA Tour Member and PGA Champion Keegan Bradley was a student of Paul’s when Keegan was a Junior Golfer in Woodstock VT! In fact, Paul was awarded the VTPGA Junior Golf Leadership Award in 2011. Take advantage of this great BHC resource and sign up for the Junior Golf Clinic for those ages 8-13 on Thursday. Please register at the golf shop in advance. For the golfing ladies out there, our Women’s Golf Clinic will be happening Friday.
Did you know that the Dutchman’s Pipe vine on the porch of the Main Lodge is over 100 years old? Or that there are French soldiers buried in a little-known gravesite right on Basin Harbor property? Attend the History of Basin Harbor with Bob Beach, Jr. this morning and learn all about the origins of your favorite vacation spot.
It’s a scorcher! August weather is back in action, and that means you might need a refreshment this afternoon! In between catching a lake breeze, which blows most anytime, grab a frozen concoction or a chilled beer at the Burgee Bar or a creemee at the Harbor Store! If you find yourself on the other side of the property, duck into the Fairway Café next to the golf shop for a cold one and a snack. When you’ve filled your sun quota for the day, escape to the air-conditioned Champlain Lounge and let Constantin whip you up a tasty drink. Your beverage needs are well covered here at Basin Harbor!
Ready to hit the tennis courts? The last of our Adult Tennis Clinics for the week is happening today at 10am, so don’t miss out! In lieu of morning clinics for the remainder of the week, we will be offering hosted open court practice sessions during the 10 o’clock hour. Round Robins will carry on. See the concierge for Har-Tru court reservations, and get your balls and rackets at the front desk.
Have you enjoyed a meal in the Main Dining Room yet? If so, you know the quality of food that comes from Basin Harbor’s famous kitchen. This afternoon you’ll have the opportunity to see where the magic happens and meet the crew behind it all! Hop on board the Kitchen Tour and learn a few secrets about your BHC dining experience. Then unlock the secrets of authentic Italian cooking by attending one of two (or both!) Cooking Classes with Chef Tony, held this very afternoon. Tony will show you how to make the classic eggplant relish called Caponata, and everyone’s favorite Italian dessert, Cannoli! Sign up with the concierge in advance.
Ann-Marie will be capturing candid images today at all camps. A slideshow of this week’s candids will be running this evening in the Champlain Lounge. Our last Family Portrait Special is available tomorrow morning at the Wilderneath Garden. Please sign up with the concierge by this evening. Private Portrait Sessions are still available throughout the week.
After a full day of fun in the sun and a delicious Basin Harbor dinner, what could be better than relaxing with your friends and family for a flick? Tonight’s movie in the Club Room is “Just Friends”, a romantic comedy starring Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart.
Quote of the Day
”The depressing thing about tennis is that no matter how good I get, I’ll never be as good as a wall.”
