Why Basin Harbor Club?

Read why our guests feel like part of the family!

Dear Bob & Pennie, As the 125th season comes to a close, I wanted to say congratulations to you and the generations of Beach family members, that have made Basin Harbor a special place for so many families and friends.

A place full of traditions, memories and laughter!

A place where people, faces and interests have more meaning then the changing colors of the Adirondack Mountains!

A place where the moods of Lake Champlain can reflect the moods of the world!

A place where one can sit in Adirondack chairs and feel calm and relaxed as one looks at those same waters.

A place that people choose to usher in new beginnings (weddings) , celebrations (birthdays and anniversaries) and first experiences (a golf or tennis swing, water ski or wake board, paddle boat or paddle board, a sand castle)

A place where God created the mountains and the lake – But the Beach family created the place that has turned them into memories.

Thank you………..

I grew up spending my summers near Basin Harbor Club and have many fond childhood memories of eating at the Red Mill, taking tennis lessons and just enjoying all the resort had to offer. I worked at the waterfront during my summer breaks during college where I created new memories and met some of the most amazing friends I have ever known.

When my husband proposed almost 9-years ago, neither of us could imagine a more perfect place to get married. Our wedding was all that we hoped for and more. It was true perfection…from the moment we began the planning stages to the last dance under the tent with all the people we love the most in the world to the late night party at the Red Mill.

If I could go back and do it all again, I wouldn’t change a thing!

Basin Harbor has been part of my life for over 40 years.   My parents brought the family for the first time in the 1960’s. these were the days of dressing for dinner every night (I can still see my father in his white bucks strolling towards the lodge), old Bob Beach greeted each guest under, what I believe was an awning in those days, decked out with a bow tie, Saturday dinners were “theme night” and guests would dress according to the theme of the week, Hawaiian, Casino etc…
My parents spent one week each summer at BHC for at least 25 consecutive years, and often came up in the fall to play golf as well. My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Basin Harbor twenty five years ago, and nine years ago we brought our, then, three year old daughters for the first of their nine August vacation weeks (and still counting).
Once you have driven through the pillars it seems as though somehow time has stood still. There is peacefulness, a welcoming sweep of green grass leading to the lake, guests scattered in the signature Adirondack chairs reading the newest book, playing cards with their grandchildren, and once in awhile you catch someone napping
Pennie and Bob have brought Basin Harbor Club into this century with true graciousness. The grounds are spectacular, the food is wonderful, and the children’s programs are diverse, entertaining and well supervised.  This is where our daughters learned to first ride a bicycle; they found new freedom in this haven, autonomy, and good friends with whom they exchange letters and pictures throughout the year. A Basin Harbor week is a family week.  It’s time to shut off the computer (but there is wi fi if you really need to use it), turn off the TV and phone, go for a walk, kayak on the lake, take a swim, play some golf, or just sit.
For the past five years my parents have brought our extended family for a week (three children and the grandchildren) in July (yes, lucky me), for an annual family reunion.  There really is something for everyone and we all get to eat different meals together, and then some play golf, I take a yoga class or walk our dogs (yes pet friendly too!! And they are part of our family) or simply read a book in the quiet.  We have time for each other, but also have time for ourselves. The perfect balance.
My daughters believe that Basin Harbor is the very best place on earth to be with family, I know they are right.

We loved our Basin Harbor wedding! I can honestly say there is not a thing I would change. Throughout the planning stages everyone was helpful and quick to respond to any and all of our questions. We had a beautiful autumn ceremony overlooking Lake Champlain and the Adirondack foliage. Thanks to the BHC staff (and cooperative weather), everything went exactly as we planned. Our reception was flawless with incredibly personable and efficient service.
