Dining at Our Historic Vermont Resort
Whether you want an elegant dinner, a working lunch, or a picnic-style meal for the whole family to enjoy, Basin Harbor has it. Guests may enjoy lakeside dining in the Main Dining Room, or our casual restaurant, the Red Mill, for a laid-back lunch. For the outdoor set, take an al fresco meal on the Homestead lawn or right on the water at the North Dock during the summer months.
Our restaurants specialize in eclectic New England fare that highlights fresh, local ingredients. Our committment to the Vermont Fresh Network and local producers is important to our historic Vermont resort heritage.Dining is an important aspect to any enjoyable getaway and we fully appreciate that.
At the Main Dining Room, guests are surrounded by glass and treated to remarkable views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. Chef David Merrill’s splendid cuisine, chosen with special attention to delicious, healthy recipes, rivals the view. The impressive wine list has an Award of Excellence from The Wine Spectator. The only worry you’ll face at Basin Harbor will be what not to order. This elegant yet comfortable venue serves both breakfast and five course dinners. In keeping with the tradition of elegance, gentlemen over the age of 12 are required to wear jackets and ties at dinner during the Social Season, and resort casual (please no denim!) is acceptable for the balance of the season. Guests can also enjoy the fabulous Sunday Jazz Brunch during the summer season.
Got a sweet tooth? Reward it with a treat from The Ranger Room Buffet features a decadent Sundae Bar and other fabulous desserts, with carefully crafted menus and a staff that prides itself on service.
The Red Mill, a renovated sawmill, is a family favorite. A natural spot for guests who would prefer a more casual dining experience, the Red Mill offers a bistro menu, with lighter fare including salads, seafood, burgers, and vegetarian dishes. It is open for both lunch and dinner. The distinctive décor features rough-hewn beams, antique farm equipment, and walls covered in maps and photos of Basin Harbor in days past. The Red Mill also has a children’s menu and an enormous outdoor play structure, guaranteed to provide hours of fun.....Just another reason we are family approved!
Many of Basin Harbor’s delicious meals may be savored outside. Three nights a week during the summer season, guests may join our Harbor Fair, Shore Dinner, or the Vermont Farmer's Dinner on the Homestead lawn and lakeside North Dock. Relax and enjoy one of the best views Vermont has to offer.
You’re sure to savor every meal at our historic family resort, whether it’s served on a checkered cloth or a crisp, white tablecloth.
