Local Weather (Subject to Change!)
We might see some sunshine today, with partly sunny skies on the radar and a 40% chance of rain and thundershowers expected to happen mainly in the afternoon. The Harbor could experience some heavy precipitation and thunderstorms overnight.
The Harbor welcomes our new and returning guests today. We are glad to see Jed & Kelly Dousevicz from Charlotte, VT, as well as our friends Jim Nevius of Metuchen, NJ and the gang Jeremy, Jacob, Johnny, and Joanna. Lillian Brenes is here from Rockaway, NJ, visiting the Harbor and saying hello to her brother, our own Chef Juan Brenes from the Red Mill! Great to see you! From Mount Kisco, NY we welcome Mr. & Mrs. Cowan and wish them a very special Happy Anniversary, from all of us at BHC! Enjoy your celebration. Basin Harbor also wishes a very Happy Belated Birthday to Eddie Yanchitis from Ray Brook, NY. We are so glad Eddie was able to spend his birthday at BHC, and wish him a safe journey back home.
Wedding bells are ringing! We are delighted to welcome the happy couple Jen Kurtz and Daniel Sferra, as well as their family and friends who are here from Ohio to celebrate the union. Basin Harbor is proud to host this special gathering, and we wish them many happy years ahead.
Do you want to feel stronger? Enhancing your core strength is a great way to improve your entire well being, and will make your vacation feel that much better! BHC offers a Core Training class this morning before lunch at the Treehouse Wellness Center to get you on your way. Sign up with the concierge. And don’t miss the Basin Harbor Triathlon! Challenge yourself on this fun event that will have you swimming, biking, and running around BHC property. Grab a friend or family member for a team, or do all three legs on your own! Meet down at the waterfront at 1:45pm with a bike and helmet.
Due to the weather yesterday, our Adult Tennis Clinic was unfortunately rained out. Luckily, we have it back on the roster for today, this morning at 10am. Hope to see you at the courts!
Should the weather hold this afternoon, join naturalist Matt Witten today after lunch for a good old-fashioned upward stroll to nearby Buck Mountain. This hike is just a couple of miles round trip, but will get that blood flowing and reward you with a lovely view over the Champlain Valley! Sign up in advance with the concierge, and meet Matt at the Nature Center at 2pm. Bring water and a pair of boots, as Spring conditions can be a bit muddy!
A slideshow of the candid images captured this week will be running this afternoon in the Ranger Room. Don’t forget to pick up a card at the concierge desk with information and the password on how to view and purchase your images online. Or stop by the Club Room tomorrow from 12-2 pm to order your images in advance.
We’re in New England, so how about some lobster? Make your reservations for our Shore Dinner tonight on the North Dock, where you’ll be rewarded with a bounty of deliciousness from the land and sea. Beforehand, hop aboard the EScape for a BHC cocktail cruise, and let’s keep our fingers crossed for good weather! Sign up in advance with the concierge.
To make your Thursday complete, how about a nightcap at the Red Mill? You haven’t had a martini until you’ve tried one from our own martini connoisseur and Red Mill bartender, Costas, so come on by and he’ll stir up something tasty! If beer is more your thing, check out our line up of local Vermont draughts, including an elderberry concoction by Magic Hat, Otter Creek’s famous Basin Harbor Ale, and for the Belgian-style enthusiasts among us, Sunshine and Hoppiness, a golden ale by Drop-In Brewing.
