Local Weather (Subject to Change!)
Our Wednesday forecast brings us a 60% chance of rain showers, mostly before noon, to compliment partly cloudy skies and a high of 85 degrees.
How nice to see some of our favorite familiar faces back at the Harbor! We welcome Robert & Sandra Coyle from Rutland, VT, and wish them a lovely stay at BHC. Our longtime friends the Ratcliffe-Lees are making their annual visit from Wayne, NJ, and it’s fantastic to welcome back Kathryn, John, Betsy, and Alex. Also here to enjoy some Harbor fun and relaxation is Edward Flynn and the fantastic Flynns from Weston, MA. We send out a warm welcome to Catherine, Lizzy, and Andrew. Glad to have you all back!
Basin Harbor is pleased to host the 2013 People’s United Bank Customer Appreciation Golf Tournament today and tomorrow. We’re glad to have you on property, and wish you all luck out there on the greens!
It’s a wonderful time to be at the Harbor, with our gardens filling out and the trees still in bloom. Be sure to catch a glimpse of the unique blossoms on our Dutchman’s Pipe vine that climbs the main lodge deck. This vine is over 100 years old! Also blooming are the stately Catalpa trees near the harbor, which are beginning to shed their beautiful flowers onto the lawn. Take a look up close! Butterflies are also making their rounds, including a variety of tiger swallowtails. If you’d like to create your own version of a swallowtail to frame for your wall, sign up with the concierge for Paper Swallowtails this morning, and join Abbey in the Nature Center for some crafty fun!
Do you like to keep yourself active on vacation? Look no further than the Basin Harbor grounds themselves to work off those extra desserts at the Ranger Room! Meet our fitness guru Scott at the Wellness Center at 7am tomorrow morning for “Boot Camp”, a fast-paced series of events that will take you all around BHC. Also to look forward to tomorrow is our Basin Harbor Triathlon, an exciting event that guests are still talking about from last year! Participating triathletes will swim across the harbor, bike through the woods, and run around the Basin Harbor block as an individual or a team. Visit Scott at the Wellness Center for more information, and show up at the waterfront tomorrow by 1:45pm sharp with your bike and helmet at the ready!
Have you enjoyed a meal in the Main Dining Room yet? If so, you know the quality of food that comes from Basin Harbor’s famous kitchen. This afternoon you’ll have the opportunity to see where the magic happens and meet the crew behind it all! Hop on board the Kitchen Tour and learn a few secrets about your BHC dining experience.
Ann-Marie will be capturing candid images today at all camps. A slideshow of this week’s candids will be running this evening in the Champlain Lounge. Our last Family Portrait Special is available tomorrow morning at the Wilderneath Garden. Please sign up with the concierge by this evening. Private Portrait Sessions are still available throughout the week.
If the weather is keeping you “at bay,” remember that Basin Harbor has plenty of things to do inside! Rent a movie or boardgame from the front desk, visit Constantin in the Champlain Lounge for an afternoon cocktail or cup of tea and a good book from our library, or schedule a massage with the concierge from our own Blue Chair Day Spa. Just around the corner is the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, home to a myriad of exciting displays and fascinating information about our famous body of water.
