The Harbor will likely see some moisture this weekend, with the greatest amount falling on Friday. Decreasing precipitation and only partly cloudy skies are forecasted for Saturday and Sunday. Weekend afternoon highs will be in the mid-60s with overnight lows dropping to the mid-40s.
Hello to our lovely guests this weekend! Here to help us celebrate the final Harbor Hurrah are some of our local Vermont friends. We welcome Annie Gorin from North Chittenden, The Knudsen families from Burlington and Shelburne, and John & Aren Blaise, also here from Shelburne along with Maxx. We also have a special greeting to send out to Patrick O’Brien, who is turning another year wiser on Saturday. Happy Birthday, Patrick! We hope you have a fantastic celebration here at Basin Harbor.
Goodbyes are always hard, especially after yet another great season at the Basin Harbor Club! Alas, as we prepare to pack up the boats, the buildings, and the memories, we hope that you will enjoy the last few days of the good life here at BHC this weekend! Don’t forget to grab one last pint of Switchback at the Red Mill, enjoy one more gourmet meal in the Main Dining Room (open for breakfast 7-10am through Sunday morning, with the last dinner on Friday night), and head to the golf course for a season’s end game. Store up those memories for the winter ahead, and we’ll welcome you back next May!
Meanwhile, the waterfront is still open for bike rentals, kayaks, and more through Saturday, and our final narrated EScape cruise will go out at 10:30am. Grab a cycling map or a BHC trail map at the Nature Center, located below the Homestead, and enjoy any of our numerous walking trails on property. See if you can find our hidden Checkerboard Stump in the woods! Grab a friend and play a game or two amidst the maples. Hint: the stump is located on the Button Bay Trail, with a view of the 4th Fairway!
If you haven’t had enough delicious food this year at BHC, we’ve got quite the season finale in store to send off our 126th year with a bang! Basin Harbor is excited to present our First Annual Rocktoberfest this Saturday from 4pm to 10pm, a celebration of beer, bacon, and live music! What could be better than bacon-wrapped everything as you sip seasonal brews from Otter Creek, Switchback, and Fiddlehead and listen to live sets from six local bands? Prepare your appetite and your arteries for a full lineup of bacon—inspired sweet and savory morsels (bacon caramel corn or bacon-maple fried dough, anyone?), and bring the kids along for face-painting, games, local crafters, and more. Come early for a 2:30pm Beer and Bacon Cruise aboard the EScape, featuring Mr. Beach Sr.’s signature sandwich: peanut butter and bacon! See the concierge to sign up in advance, and look for more info on the back of The Breeze.
With visions of bacon and Adirondack chairs dancing in your head, we bid you adieu! Cheers from all of us at Basin Harbor, and wish you the merriest of winters. See you next year!
