DAY 11
Fido’s Liver Biscuits

 

For those of you who know us well, it ¬†won’t surprise you that we included a cookie for the dogs in your life.
Nutritious and with whole grains, you can be sure that your dog is getting the best treat ever! Bake with love!

Liver Dog Biscuits

1 lb. beef liver
2 eggs
1 cup cottage cheese, lowfat
1 1/2 cup wheat germ
3 1/4 cups wheat flour

Rinse liver and cut into 1″ chunks. Fill 2 qt. saucepan with 1 c. water and bring to boil. Add liver chunks and reduce heat and simmer until liver is no long pink. Put liver in blender, saving the liquid from previous step. Break in eggs, including shells. Whirl to puree, adding reserved liquid as needed. Scrape mixture into bowl, adding cottage cheese, wheat germ, 3 c. flour and the reserved liquid remaining. Stir until evenly moistened. Knead until dough no longer feels sticky, adding more flour as needed. Roll out dough onto a floured board until 1/2 inch thick. Cut dough with floured cookie cutter…bone of course! Bake in 300 degree oven until the bones are darker brown and firm to touch, about 1 hour. Cool on racks. Once cool, the bones should be hard when pressed. If not, bake an additional 10 ¬†minutes and cool.
